ELTE TTK II. Innovation Market and Career Day (October 2, 2025)
On October 2, 2025, the Faculty of Science of Eötvös Loránd University organized its II. Innovation Market and Career Day event on the Lágymányos campus.
The aim of the event was to address students and researchers, promote tender and research cooperation, and strengthen industry-academic relations.
Our institute was represented at the event by three colleagues (Mátyás Herein, Dániel Jánosi, Lívia Deme).
At the joint stands ensuring the uniform appearance of HUN-REN, the tasks of the delegated colleagues were:
* a brief presentation of the research profile and main results of their institution to interested students, researchers and industrial partners,
* information about joint tender and research cooperation opportunities,
* active participation in building relationships and in professional dialogue with researchers from ELTE TTK.
The most important goal of the event was to provide an opportunity to gain experience in the research institute sector for all young people interested in the sector, especially university students, PhD students and young, beginning postdoctoral fellows participating in undergraduate and master’s programs in Central and Eastern Europe, i.e. to strengthen the relationship between students and lecturers and research institutes, promoting professional collaborations.
We tried to present the main research areas of the Institute of Physics (lithosphere physics, seismology, atmospheric physics, space weather) in as much detail as possible. In addition, we also talked to those interested about our own research directions (e.g. atmospheric chaotic dynamics, geodynamo, thermal convection, climate change, meteor research) and of course we presented results. Regarding the collaborations related to these, e.g. the HUN-REN-ELTE Theoretical Physics Research Group and several departments of ELTE, the Climate Campus Hamburg, Utrecht University, ESA PRODEX VERATAC (running) projects, planned NKFIH “otkas”, Wigner Physics Research Institute, Konkoly Thege Miklós Astronomy Institute, which we mentioned. We drew attention to the fact that students can continuously join the research topics of FI, at BSc and MSc or even doctoral level, from physics, astronomy, meteorology and geophysics departments.
During the Career Day, our colleague Miklós Vincze (ELTE TTK Kármán Lab) briefly joined us, regarding laboratory topics and opportunities there.
The short ppt and animation prepared for the presentation of FI, received from all areas, which presented the given research area well, caught the attention of many visitors. We linked these together and continuously screened them during the Career Day.
Our stand was visited by many students, mainly biology, physics and some informatics, meteorology and mathematics, BSc and MSc students, as well as PhD students, who showed a keen interest in the research areas of our Research Institute, especially the Magnetic Zero Field Laboratory (ZBL).
We trust that our research unit leaders will receive many inquiries in the coming days and that our Institute contributed to the success of the event.
